Photography?

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever.
It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything."
-Aaron Siskind

Pictures entice me. There has always been something about photography that appealed to me. Growing up, I would spend hours in the basement going through old pictures, picking out ones that I liked and tossing aside ones I didn't deem worthy of my time..

A few years down the road in 6th grade I received my first film camera for Christmas. It went everywhere with me. I took pictures at school, at home, at camp, of friends, on trips... I was quickly deemed the photographer of the family. I broke this camera in Colorado that summer, but it served me well for the short time I had it.

In 7th grade, I became the proud owner of a Fujifilm digital camera. I thought it was the best thing ever. I documented my life by taking pictures. Throughout the rest of middle school and high school I went through 4 additional digital cameras, upgrading as I got older. I was no longer just my family's photographer, but my friends' photographer as well. No one needed to bring along a camera because it was a given I'd have mine in tow.

In my room in Concord, there are 20+ photo albums of pictures from before the time of facebook. I have pictures that show every aspect of life. These pictures are moments in time, frozen forever. They can always be remembered. After the facebook fad began, most of my pictures appeared online -- no longer in print; however, these pictures still exist. They still show emotion and tell the story of the people in them.

This past Christmas I received the best camera yet -- a DSLR camera! Its ability to capture any moment, action, or person is almost impeccable. This blog is my way of sharing the joy I find in photography with others. I want everyone to see the beauty in life. A picture of a face says a thousand words. A picture of a sunrise invokes a sense of wonder. There is so much a person can gain from photography.

I want people people to see my life through a lens because I do believe that what is captured by a camera is captured forever.
