room: before picture
today, like yesterday, i haven't had a chance to take many pictures. actually, i'm not even sure where my camera is at the moment. oops. i figured i'd post a picture of what my new room looks like - or well looked like before i got a hold of it today. i've spent the day painting, cleaning and such... my room doesn't look the same at all. i'm sure when i get all moved in that i'll post pictures! but, here's what it used to look like!
end note: i move in tomorrow and am so stoked!!

trinity graduation
today was trinity's graduation. they had a tent set up for an outdoor ceremony, but ended up relocating to the gym because of rain. the weather couldn't put a damper on the occasion. graduation was great. i'm sad to see the seniors go but also so excited to see what their futures hold. cliche, i know...
end note: happy graduation seniors!

today i spent the majority of my time packing my car. tomorrow morning i head back up to chapel hill. i got to take daniel's picture for his student id today as he is heading off for orientation this weekend. i didn't really get around to taking any other pictures today, so you get a nice lovely picture of my brother that will soon appear on his usc student card.
end note: lady antebellum said it well: couldn't wait to get going, but wasn't quite ready to leave.

southeast road trip: day 6
today marked the end of the trip dad and i have been on the past week. we left nashville early this morning and headed back to north carolina. we've been on quite the trip, and i've had the time of my life. as we crossed the state line back into north carolina, i couldn't help but sing to myself eric church's lyrics: carolina, keep calling me home. despite the greatness of nashville, it's still nice to come back to good ole caroline.
end note: i have been on quite a magnificent adventure this week! thanks dad!!!!

southeast road trip: day 5
today dad and i went back over to the country music hall of fame, but this time we went for a tour! it was a lot of fun, and they had the coolest things ever for us to see. there were guitars, clothes, letters, journals and many other items on display. plus, there were lots of videos to watch and songs to listen to. what i wouldn't give to be allowed access to their archives for even just an hour. i can only imagine the treasures they have stored up!
end note: i don't want to leave tomorrow.

southeast road trip: day 4
today was another exciting day in nashville! dad and i went to church this morning and then headed back to the hotel. the country music hall of fame inducted reba mcentire, bobby braddock and jean shepard this afternoon, so we decided to go over and wait for the stars to arrive. we got to see them walk the red carpet! there were lots of famous country artists and song writers! it was amazing, and i was literally 5 feet from the red carpet - right behind the media! click here for an article covering the event. in case you're wondering, reba pictures are towards the end. today we also went to see the parthenon, and tonight we went over to the river. i'd have to say seeing the country artists definitely overshadowed these two happenings.
end note: i've come to a conclusion - i want to live in nashville after i graduate!

southeast road trip: day 3
today dad and i got lunch with the perkins in birmingham before heading on to tennessee. it was really great to spend time with their family! when we got to our hotel in nashville, we were informed that taylor swift was performing literally a block from our hotel tonight. let me just tell you, i have the best dad ever. he got us both tickets to see tswift! she opened her last dress rehearsal as a fundraiser for the tornado victims in alabama, and from tickets alone raised 750,000 dollars - not including the merchandise that was sold tonight. my claim to fame for the day was running into taylor's mom on broadway! before the show, dad and i went to two bars to listen to music. it was great. there is so much to do in nashville, and so many diverse things to see! but, i'd have to say that taylor swift's concert was by far the highlight of the trip so far. it was AMAZING. i didn't get to meet her, but there's still the concert in greensboro this summer! sorry for the abundance of pictures today, but if you know me well at all, you'd know i love taylor swift almost as much as i love taking pictures... plus, a lot happened today!
end note: i absolutely love nashville! also, if you're a big tswizzle fan, click here. i'm uploading the videos i took tonight. they're amazing.

southeast road trip: day 2
today dad and i headed to birmingham. i did some school work, and then we decided to drive around the city. we drove through samford university because i had never seen it, and then we went to see where the tornado came through a few weeks ago. it was unlike anything i had seen before: acres of devastation. it was extremely humbling and looked like something out of a movie. i took a few pictures because i honestly don't think you can understand the destruction without seeing it with your own eyes. next, dad and i headed to vulcan park. we took the elevator up to the top of the statue; you could see the entire city from the top. i thought it was great, but apparently dad is a wee bit afraid of heights. needless to say, we didn't last too long there...
end note: it's good to be back in alabama!

southeast road trip: day 1
today dad and i drove to atlanta. we left this morning and got in around 3. we have a sick room where you can see all of downtown atlanta. our hotel is super tall, and looking up from the bottom floor is the coolest view. for dinner, we went to this place that had great soul food. they also had some of the world's friendliest people. on the way to dinner, we passed centennial park. since we had discussed the bombing there today in my online ethics for journalism class, i asked if we could stop at the park on the way back to the hotel. we had the taxi drop us off, and then dad and i took turns running through the fountains. so fun! i later learned the view from the hotel at night is just as great, if not better! i can't wait to go back out and see more of atlanta!
end note: atlanta is a city that i would love to spend the week exploring!
